Jay Shurey

Owner / Lead Film Studies Tutor

Jay is a Film Studies tutor who specialises in film production.

Jay has always had a keen interest in Film and Media since the day he first picked up a video camera. Film making provided Jay with an outlet to express his ideas and also bring people together as a team working on joint projects. He is now an award winning professional filmmaker, working on a number of short and feature films as producer and writer.

In 2019, Jay decided to branch out into the world of tuition, sharing his knowledge with others, enabling them to understand the history of film and showing learners how to create their own works.

Judith Gunn

Course Designer / Presenter

Author and writer of study guides on film. Judith specialises in writing texts for Film and Media Studies for GCE.

Judith is an experienced teacher, writer and eLearning specialist having taught the 16-19 age group for fourteen years and moderated A2 Media Studies coursework. Judith regularly constructed virtual learning environments for students using Moodle or WordPress and has taught BTEC Media and Film, AS & A2 Media Studies, and all the versions of A Level English and Level 3 Journalism.

Judith also has experience as a moderator for WJEC A2 Media Studies coursework submissions and has written two study guides for Auteur publishing for Film Studies and Media Studies. Judith regularly contributed to Auteur’s journal Splice on academic topics related to the study of film. Auteur’s publications are syndicated by Columbia University Press in the US.

Rudi Keoghan

Film / Media Studies Tutor / Marker

Rudi is a former Head of film and Media at Thomas Adam’s school and Shrewsbury college, as well as former Head of the Film and Media dept at Bexhill college in East Sussex.

He is qualified to examine and moderate Media and Film Studies papers at both Advanced Level and GCSE for AQA, WJEC and OCR.

Rudi is our Lead Media Studies tutor and head up the marking of all Film Studies and Media Studies assignments.

Jack Rowley

Film / Media Studies Marker / Moderator

Jack is a qualified teacher, with experience of teaching A-Level, BTEC 1, 2 and 3 and general mentoring.

He has previously taught Film, Media & Photography with additional PSHE, English and Maths, to a range of ages, most prominently 16+. as well as being a graduate in Film Production.

As well as working for JQS Learning, he currently work as a Video Producer working in Video Production, most recently corporate video including B2C and B2B. He also also freelances as a Camera Operator within Sports Broadcasting.

Jack has experience of scriptwriting for micro, shortform and medium form content, working within both within collaborative cloud-based applications and local software, including Celtx, Final Draft, Google & Microsoft.
